Project overview
A new bridge required the existing sewer and water mains to be moved clear of the construction footprint. WM Directional Drilling came in as a subcontractor to relocate the mains trenchlessly, keeping the crossing in service.
Challenge
The relocation sat on the critical path for the bridge build. Any delay to the utility move would hold up the general contractor, so the work had to land on schedule.
Approach
WM planned the new alignment clear of the bridge works, bored and installed the relocated mains, and handled the entry and exit excavation and tie-ins so the lines could be commissioned back into service.
Outcome
The mains were relocated on schedule, letting the general contractor keep building without a utility hold-up.
